Nike Basketball has announced newest women’s specific apparel line-The Swoosh Fly. It channels the emotional connection that players have and designs them for the female body.
Previously, Nike released the Women’s Nike Air Force III in the 1980s, “Who said woman was not meant to fly?” had ignited the clothing world by introducing products specifically for HER. The same words are true today when Nike Basketball has announced their new women’s specific clothing line, Swoosh Fly.
“There’s an entire culture of needing those pieces. This is why we have standard issue — to meet those needs, because that’s what players are actually wearing.” said Mistie Boyd, Nike Basketball apparel manager and former center for the Phoenix Mercury.
The Swoosh Fly collection especially designed for female athletes around the world keeping in mind three major factors: authenticity, empowerment and fit. With softer fabrics, more dimensionally fitting designs and patterns, Swoosh Fly means empowering HER, on and off the court. Before that no athletic gear for female hoopers.
Female players often complained that typical men’s basketball shorts don’t fit their bodies i.e. the shorts were too narrow for the bodies. Nike Basketball designers has answered this by widening the circumstances of the leg, creating a high rise and tightening the waist
Other pieces for the upper body use a more slender dimension for truer fit. For example, the Swoosh Fly Mesh Penny jersey features a narrow, low boxy shoulder width so that the jersey straps do not slip while playing, which is a common concern.
The line includes a wide range of products ranging from their Swoosh fly mesh pennies and shorts to hoodies and suits for the court set. Through the feedback from professionals and women of all ages in the global basketball community, the Swoosh Fly Outfit is truly made for the female athlete’s body.
The Nike Basketball Swoosh Fly collection releases globally on July 10 on nike.com and also available at select retailers.
