The textiles, apparel, and footwear sector experienced a 15.7% gain in sales. Compared to a 10.6% growth in January 2022, Poland’s retail sales at constant prices in January 2023 were down 0.3% from the previous year. Retail sales dropped by 23.1% from December 2022 to December 2019.
According to a news release from Statistics Poland, the retail sales of businesses that deal in solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels experienced the biggest decline in January 2023, falling 12.3 percent at constant prices compared to a reduction of 2.2 percent in the same month in 2022.
Comparing January 2023 to December 2022, the value of online retail sales at current prices decreased by 32.7%. From 9.5 percent in December 2022 to 8.3 percent in January 2023, internet sales’ percentage of overall sales fell. Contrarily, the share for the category of textiles, apparel, and footwear increased from 19.7% to 21.5 percent.
Retail sales at constant prices in January 2023 were 2.7% higher than they were in December 2022 after the seasonal variables were taken into account.
