Smart Clothing enters into denim segment

Bengaluru-based Smart Clothing is adding a new jeans factory. Its manufacturing capacity is 60,000 pieces per month, will come up with a jeans factory that will have an initial capacity of 5,000 pieces per day.

Vishal Devatha, Director of the company, said “Our existing clients motivated us to enter into denim segment. Our research also shows that denim is a growing segment and it will have constant demand.”

Additionally, they will start with the sewing setup and will later go for washing operations, also to explore various opportunities, technologies and other aspects of the trade.

For the new plant, the company has taken more than 4 acres of land, with the overall investment being around Rs. 8 to 10 crore.

Sewing operations will start in next 3 months, while washing operations will take some more time.

There is no ceiling to growth if one operates the business in proper way; so far we have seen more than 15 to 20 per cent growth on a year-on-year basis, Vishal added.

As of now, the company is working with Indian brands and in future it will also explore export opportunities. For that, the denim plant will be fully compliant as per the need of export.
